Good pen, delivery a bit slow

I purchased a Hand-Turned Pen, and overall I'm pleased with it. The pen itself is beautiful, writes smoothly, and feels good in the hand – really nice craftsmanship there. The website was easy to navigate and placing the order was simple. My only minor critique would be that shipping took about 8 days to get to me, which felt a little longer than I expected for a small item. Customer service was responsive when I inquired about the tracking, though. Good value for the quality, just plan for a slightly longer wait on delivery.

Got a belt, it's pretty cool

Yeah, so I ordered one of those Leather Belts the other week. It showed up without any issues. The leather is thick, seems like it'll last forever, you know? It's a nice belt. No complaints, really. Just a solid product.

Nice cutting board

I bought a Wood Cutting Board. It arrived quickly. Quality is good. I like the design. Would buy again.

Coffee is fantastic!

Oh my goodness, the Hand-Roasted Coffee I got was absolutely delicious! The aroma when I opened the bag was just incredible, and the taste was so rich and smooth. I'm so happy with this purchase. I will definitely be buying more coffee from here again. My friends are going to love this too!

Consistently good products

This was my third purchase from Narrow Gate Artisans, this time a Leather Journal. Like my previous orders (a coffee subscription and a wood bowl), the quality is consistently high. The journal's leather is beautiful, and the paper feels nice. Delivery was prompt, just like before. I keep coming back because their products are reliable and well-crafted. It's good to know what to expect.

Thinking about signing up for a woodworking class. Are these good for total beginners or do you need some experience?

M Mike 3 weeks ago
I did the leathercraft class with zero experience and it was totally fine. The instructors were super patient and walked everyone through it step-by-step. I'd imagine woodworking is similar.

They seem to be geared towards all levels. I saw a few people in my pottery class who clearly hadn't touched clay before and they still made cool stuff.

Does anyone know if those class discounts for signing up for the newsletter actually work? Don't want to get spammed for no reason.

N Neil G. 1 month ago
Yep, I got 10% off a leather workshop through a newsletter code. It came through pretty quickly after I signed up.

S Shane B. 1 month ago
They don't spam too much, mostly just updates and occasional offers. The discount should work, but usually it's just for certain classes or products.

Anyone know where these products are actually made? Like, are they making them themselves or getting them from somewhere else?

S Sam Silva 1 month ago
The young men in their program make a lot of the products right there, under artisan guidance. That's part of their whole deal.

D Derek K. 1 month ago
They make them in-house at their workshop. That's the whole point, teaching those skills to the guys in their program.

Thinking of getting a coffee subscription, but what if I get too much coffee? Can I pause or skip a month?

N Neil 1 month ago
Most subscriptions allow you to manage your deliveries, like skipping or pausing. I haven't done their coffee one specifically but that's pretty standard now.

I'd check their subscription details on the coffee page. Usually, you can totally adjust those things so you don't end up with too much or too little.

I live in Seattle, any idea how long shipping usually takes for coffee subscriptions? Don't want to run out!

K Kate 4 weeks ago
I'm in California and my coffee usually gets to me within 5-7 business days from when it ships. So probably similar for Seattle, maybe a little quicker.

They ship pretty fast. I think it depends on when you order in their roasting cycle, but I usually get mine within a week.

How's their return policy on something like a leather tote bag? Just in case it's not what I expect.

A Andre K. 1 month ago
I returned a wallet once because it wasn't quite the color I wanted. It was pretty straightforward, I just contacted them and they sent instructions. Just make sure it's unused.

Yeah, their return policy is fair. Just gotta make sure you send it back in good shape within the timeframe. They're usually pretty understanding.

Are these guys like, a legit non-profit or just a business that says it helps people?

J James H. 1 month ago
It's a social enterprise, so it's a business but the profits go back into their vocational program for young men. It's pretty cool actually, you can read about it on their site.
2
D Daisy Osei 1 month ago
They're definitely legitimate. They support a ministry that helps young men with job skills and life direction. So yeah, buying from them supports that mission directly.

Saw a cool cutting board, but it's a bit pricey. Any chance they do sales around Father's Day?

S Sarah 1 month ago
They might. Father's Day is one of their bigger times, but discounts are usually pretty small, like 10-15% off at most. Don't expect huge doorbusters.

N Neil 1 month ago
Sometimes they do. Best bet is to check their site closer to the date or sign up for the newsletter, that's where I usually see any deals announced.
